Up in the Northern regions we don't get much attention when it comes to sportbikes, be it the crap weather half the year or the fact that we're the automobile powerhouse of the world, so we get shorted on bike shows.

2005 was no different, granted, it is nice to see all the bikes on display from Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki and Ducati, there really wasn't much else to look at.

Yamaha was kind enough to bring along Velentino's 2004 MotoGP winning bike and that was a nice look. Kawasaki brought the most usefull bit, Tommy Hayden's 2004 AMA Supersport Championship winning bike. I just had to get some close up photos of this one since that's exactly what I race. In do course, I'll be making a few adjustments judged meritable by The Champ himself.

Suzuki brought in Mat Mladin's 2004 Gaytona [six] winning bike. It's interesting to see how much work goes into getting the bike ready. Easily $150,000+ in time and parts. You know it's a bike built for one purpose only; winning at Daytona.

Other than that, there really wasn't much to see. It was nice to run into some old friends that have worked in the industry for a long time. Our friend Monte from www.sportbiketracktime.com was there. Kovs and I had quite a few good times with his outfit.

If you really want to see all the interesting bits on offer from various manufacturers, you must head down to the Indy Dealer Show. The rest of the Cycle World shows are geared towards the general consumer, it's still worth the twelve dollar entry fee, though I'd make the trip to Indy any day for ten times the amount.
